1 Topic: Gratitude
We
talked in the last newsletter about adventure. That was no coincidence, as I was
just about to walk out the door for a 9-day trip to Switzerland with seven of my
family members. The trip was a glorious adventure that we enjoyed on planes and
trains and to the tops of mountains.
I also became formally engaged (to
my long-time boyfriend, Kevin) on the airplane flight TO Switzerland! A
usually-shy-Kevin decided to propose to me ON THE LOUD SPEAKER of the airplane!
It was so uncharacteristic of him, that it touched my heart even more. I
certainly felt that was another fun adventure!
Now onto this newsletter's
topic... gratitude. I've had a bit of experience with that lately as well. We're
all familiar with feeling thankful for things and people and experiences which
are already in our lives. While that's marvelous, I'd like to talk a bit in this
newsletter about being grateful BEFORE the creation has become
manifest.
A dramatic demonstration of how this works happened to my
family this past week. You see, we had heard from my Dad's doctor that Dad had a
mass of cancer, deep in his stomach/intestinal area. Three doctors all looked at
the pet scan and all determined it was definitely cancer.
We had to wait
until after the Switzerland trip for him to go in for surgery, which would
hopefully remove the mass and we'd be done with it.
Instead, we received
the news quickly on Monday that the mass was intertwined with some major
arteries, so they wouldn't be able to remove it. They took a big biopsy and then
stitched him back up, saying that they'd discuss what future treatments he'll
need as soon as we got the results.
Though it was upsetting at first, we
began to quickly decide that the biopsy would be benign. The doctors knew it was
cancer and even went so far as to tell my Mom they were talking over a treatment
plan.
Monday through Wednesday, I chanted the following: "I'm so
thankful it's benign. I'm so thankful it's benign." Others in my family did
similar methods of visualizing and knowing it to be benign.
We were
grateful BEFORE the creation had become manifest. I realize we're not the first
ones to do this, but it was the first time I had focused on anything like that
so absolutely, for a sustained period of time.
We found out yesterday
that it was and is indeed benign! The doctors are baffled. We continue to be
grateful.
In what areas of your life can you begin to feel gratitude for
a manifestation which has not yet shown up in your experience?

1 Exercise: Gratitude
EXERCISE
FOR THESE TWO WEEKS: These two weeks, let's spend some time being as
grateful as possible.
- Be grateful for who you are
- Be grateful for everyone in your life
- Be grateful for the usual things... your health, your home, and so on (be
specific!)
- Be grateful for being able to help others... with charity and also with love
and kind words and smiles
- Be thankful for all the "strangers" who have worked to provide for you all
that you have...the people who designed and made your appliances and clothing,
and more.
- Be thankful for being able to experience new things and have adventures
- Be thankful for being able to experience all emotions... even the ones we
sometimes don't enjoy experiencing
- Be thankful for who you are becoming and the choices you are now making
- Be thankful for the ability to choose
- Be thankful for something specific that you wish to manifest into your life.
Word it as if it is already here.
- Be thankful for a recent creation of any kind
- Be thankful for as many items as you wish to create, but focusing on one or
two for a sustained period might bring quicker results. Have FUN with this
experiment and see how many joyful experiences you can bring into your life by
thanking them AS they are coming.

Quotes
"To
educate yourself for the feeling of gratitude means to take nothing for granted,
but to always seek out and value the kind that will stand behind the action.
Nothing that is done for you is a matter of course. Everything originates in a
will for the good, which is directed at you. Train yourself never to put off the
word or action for the expression of gratitude."
–Albert
Schweitzer
"Let us rise up and be thankful, for if we didn't learn a lot
today, at least we learned a little, and if we didn't learn a little, at least
we didn't get sick, and if we got sick, at least we didn't die; so, let us all
be thankful.”

"Appreciation can
make a day, even change a life. Your willingness to put it into words is all
that is necessary."
